A 5-DAY MALLORCA ITINERARY
Mallorca or oftentimes referred to as Majorca is one of the Balearic Islands of Spain. While it’s the biggest island of the four, it’s still quite drivable making it easy to see all the amazing beaches and attractions in just 5 days. The Spanish gem has been a bucket list destination of mine for a few years because it reminded me of Greece after seeing pictures of their crystal clear beaches. But, once I did more research on the destination and realized it has so much more to offer like their picturesque villages and adventurous hikes, I was hooked. With 5 days in Mallorca, this itinerary is packed with all the best it has to offer.
Instead of staying in Palma the whole trip like many people do, I recommend bouncing around the island for a true Mallorca experience. This 5 day itinerary includes Palma, the capital of Mallorca, Portals Nous, Deia, Valldemossa, Port de sa Calobra, Ses Salines and Colonia de Sant Jordi.
RENTAL CARS IN MALLORCA
If you are following my 5 day Mallorca itinerary and choose to spend a few nights in other locations other than Palma then a rental car is a must. Mallorca has very limited cabs making it difficult to get around unless you opt to take the bus. Rental cars in Mallorca are also hard to come by during the busy season and can get expensive the closer it is to your trip. I recommend booking your rental car even before you book your plane tickets. That’s how far in advance you will want to secure a car.
I typically use rentalcars.com for the best price and always rent from a reliable company like Hertz. I have never had a bad experience using the Rental Car search engine and it makes my trips super flexible with easy and free cancellation. Use the search engine above to find the best price for your Mallorca trip.

DAY 0
Let’s get into the fun stuff, the itinerary! The Spend it Like Stanford 5 day Mallorca itinerary starts off in Portals Nous, Mallorca. This area is just a 15 minute drive from Palma and it’s where many yacht owners dock their boats to enjoy some beaches and top-tier restaurants.
+ CALETA DE PORTALS NOUS
After you’ve landed in Palma, picked up your rental car and checked into your hotel, spend the rest of the afternoon at Caleta de Portals Nous located right by Roxy Beach Bar, one of the more famous beach bars in this area. This is a smaller beach, where you’ll want to bring your own towels but like most other beaches in Mallorca, you’ll find cliff jumping and some of the clearest waters. Enjoy the rest of your day here before taking an afternoon siesta. You’ll need it considering most won’t even think about sitting down for dinner until 9 PM.
+ RITZI
For dinner, make a reservation in advance at Ritzi. It’s right on the water with a lively vibe. Before dinner, be sure to visit the Ritzi Lounge Bar for an Aperol Spritz or Hugo. The Ritzi Lounge Bar is first come first served but we didn’t have an issue with finding a seat.
DAY 1
The second day in Mallorca, your first full day, wake up early to enjoy Palma as it’s just waking up and before it starts to get busy. Walk around the city and take in all the beauty before spending the rest of the afternoon at a beach club.
+ CAN JOAN DE S’AIGO
Palma is quick 15 minute drive from Portals Nous and because it’s the capital, you really can’t spend 5 days in Mallorca without adding Palma on your itinerary. Start the morning off right by visiting one of the best cafe’s in Palma. Ca’n Joan de S’aigo is hidden along an unassuming street that has been in business for over 300 years! Go inside, find a seat and be sure to try their famous ensaimadas and hot chocolate. Ensaimadas are Mallorca’s famous pastry item and it’s typically served with coffee or Ca’n Joan de S’aigo’s other world famous item, hot chocolate, for dipping.
+ PALMA CATHEDRAL
After you’ve filled up on all the ensaimadas, it’s time to explore Palma. Being that Palma is still a pretty big city compared to the size of the island, you may choose drive from one destination to another, but many of the main landmarks are centrally located. The first stop was at Palma Cathedral. This cathedral is a stunning church that took over 400 years to build and is located right next to the water.
+ OTHER PALMA LANDMARKS
Some other landmarks to check out before leaving Palma is Saint Miquel street. This street is one of the most visited streets in Mallorca due to its shopping and location. Other landmarks are Place d’Espanya, one of the most popular squares in the center of Palma, and S’Hort del Rei which is a beautiful garden close to the Cathedral.
+ GRAN FOLIES. BEACH CLUB
After spending the morning in Palma, it’s time to relax at a beach club. There are so many beach clubs to choose from in the Palma and Portals Nous area. Some of the more popular ones are Nikki Beach, Puro Beach, Assanoa and Beach Club Gran Folies. We ultimately decided on Gran Folies. It is a bit of a drive even from Portals Nous so if you don’t have a car then I would recommend trying to stay closer to your area and head to Puro or Nikki.
We chose Gran Folies because it gave a more authentic Mallorcan experience and the views were hard to pass up. Plus, it wasn’t overly priced as you’ll find Nikki Beach and Puro Beach to be. Be sure to reserve a bed in advance on the first line for some of the best views with a close spot to the pool and sea. For reference, we booked a 360 bed. You’ll have full service here making it easy to order drinks and food.
+ WELLIES
After spending a full day in the sun, you’ll be exhausted and in desperate need for that siesta. For dinner, make a reservation at Wellies. It’s in close proximity to Ritzi and has similar views of the yacht-filled marina. Be sure to ask for a seat on the patio facing the water. This way, you’ll get to see some of the best people watching here. And, be sure to order the sea bass for two. They’ll filet the fish right in front of you for an ideal gastronomical experience.
WHERE TO DRINK IN PORTALS NOUS
The Portals Nous and Puerto Portals area are known for having a lively nightlife. If you are looking for a place to sip cocktails or night of dancing, head to BOP Cocktail Bar. There’s also Billy’s Mallorca or Key West Bar to choose from.
WHERE TO STAY IN PORTALS NOUS
Here are some great options when looking for a spot to stay in the Portals Nous area:
DAY 2
After spending the first two nights in Portals Nous, it’s time to head to two new villages in Mallorca known for their gorgeous backdrops of the Tramuntana mountains — Valldemossa and Deia. We chose to spend our nights in Deia and traveled through Valldemossa for a day. Adding the Valldemossa village for a full day or even including it as a night stay instead of Deia for your 5 day Mallorca itinerary is another great option.
+ VALLDEMOSSA
I can’t say enough good things about this cute village. We left Portals Nous around 8 AM and arrived in Valldemossa around 9 AM, which is just around the time that the cafes were opening up. It was a great way to see the village as it was just waking up. Below are a few ways to spend your morning in the area, but we found the best way to see it was by simply roaming the streets.
- Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa
- King Sacho Palace
- Gardens of King Juan Carlos
- Church of Sant Barteou
- Chopins Home
+ CAN MOLINAS
Before leaving Valldemossa for Deia, be sure to stop into Ca’n Molinas for a pastry and a coffee. This cute cafe is known for their ensaimadas and coca de patata. This pattisery will have lines out the door on a typical day but if you get there early enough, you’re golden. Be sure to order at the counter first and then take a seat in their back garden for a true experience. And, be sure to take a coca de patata for the road!
+ DEIA
On the drive into Deia, I instantly fell in love with the village. There is something about it that made me want to stay forever. I don’t know if it was the dramatic views of the mountains, the sweetest people we met or the gorgeous little houses we stumbled upon on each street but the village is truly something out of a movie. While it is small, its character is huge.
While in Deia, be sure to head to some of its most famous spots:
- Robert Graves House
- St. John Church
- Son Marroig
+ HOPOSA COSTA D’OR
We decided to stay the next two nights at Hoposa Costa D’or and I can’t recommend it enough. It had the most gorgeous views of the sea from the pool and each room, including ours, had beautiful views from the bedroom. There are also day beds, a great on-site restaurant, tennis courts and it’s a short hike down to the sea from the hotel.
+ CAS PATRO MARCH
After spending the afternoon in Valldemossa and Deia, we went to a truly unforgettable restaurant in Mallorca that you absolutely have to make time for. If there is one thing you must do on this 5 day Mallorca itinerary, it’s visit Cala Deia and Ca’s Patro March. I could honestly write a whole blog post on Ca’s Patro March because it is an experience in and of itself. But, I will try to sum it up in so many words.
Ca’s Patro March was by far the hardest reservation I have ever gotten. You can book a reservation here two weeks in advance. Reservations are released at exactly midnight CST and even when I was on the site at exactly that time, I still wasn’t able to get the first line by the sea or the time I wanted. By the time I had finished booking which took about 3 minutes max, all the reservations had been booked. You can try your luck and either arrive really early for lunch around 10 AM or really late around 5 PM to get a coveted walk-in, but I wouldn’t even risk it. We had a reservation at 2PM and we still waited quite a bit before we could be seated. It was organized chaos and I loved every second of it.
+ CALA DEIA
Ca’s Patro March is right on the water by Cala Deia which is a small beach but with gorgeous views. After experiencing some of the best octopus and fresh fish we’ve ever had, we spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the beach while taking a dip in the sea to cool off.
If getting a reservation wasn’t hard enough, getting to Ca’s Patro March is also an experience. Remember, travel isn’t always pretty but, it’s always worth it. I had read beforehand that the roads leading to the restaurant were practically one-ways but meant for two cars. They really weren’t kidding. It’s a busy road full of travelers getting to the beach or restaurant. I recommend parking before you get to the Apartment Parking and walking from there. There are a few inlets that allow for parking just before and you can walk the rest of the way from there. I recommend this because we saw everyone trying to park in the main parking lot and getting out is a true nightmare. We saw a couple of people get into a fender bender in this area so it really isn’t worth the hassle.
+ CAFE MIRO & EL OLIVIO
For dinner, head to one of the most gorgeous hotel properties I’ve ever seen, Belmond la Residencia. This hotel has it all. The views, the best drinks, top-notch service and a five-course experience just waiting for you. Cafe Miro is a great spot to take in the views of Deia, listen to music and enjoy a cocktail before a reservation at El Olivio.
You will definitely need a reservation at El Olivio and they get booked up pretty quickly because of their limited seating (they only seat one reservation at a table for the whole night). If you can’t get a reservation at El Olivio then Cafe Miro is open to walk-ins for dinner as well. El Olivio has a five course menu that is just spectacular and watching the sunset over Deia while enjoying dinner is something I will never forget. Be prepared to spend some money here, though.
DAY 3
There are a couple of options for you to do on your third full day in Mallorca. We originally planned to take a catamaran cruise on the island, but unfortunately they cancelled the night before on us. On the fortunate side, we were able to experience the north side of the island because of it which I didn’t think we would have time for!
+ SA CALOBRA
Getting to Sa Calobra, you’ll take a very windy drive through the mountains with breathtaking views. You’ll even pass through Soller, another beautiful village known for their historic train ride and I recommend stopping if you have time. Once you get to the destination it’s about a 15 minute hike to the hidden beach of Sa Calobra. Nestled in-between two rock formations, this hidden beach is absolutely gorgeous and has some of the bluest waters I’ve ever seen. You’ll notice some yacht’s sit their boats just beyond the beach to take in the views.
On the way to the beach, you’ll pass a few small shops where you can pick up some water, a quick lunch or even some gelato. Spend the rest of the day here soaking up the sun and taking a dip in the water. Also, be sure to bring your own towels!
+ ES CANYARET
After spending the day at Sa CAlobra and are up for one more beach stop, head to Es Canyaret. It’s a short hike if you are staying at Hoposa (about 10 minutes) and it’s a very quiet beach to enjoy some sea views.
+ BENS D’AVALL
For dinner, you’ll want to make reservations in advance at Bens d’Avall. Located in heart of the Tramuntana mountains, Bens d’avail is a Michelin star restaurant and was hands down a foodies paradise. Come hungry and expect to stay for hours. We had a 10 course, 3.5 hour dinner and it was worth every penny.
WHERE TO DRINK IN DEIA
If you find yourself looking for a nightcap in Deia, look no further than Sa Fonda. The little cafe by day turns into a full bar and it’s a great place to dance the night away Or, you can head to S’Embat if you’re looking for some fun drinks.
WHERE TO STAY IN DEIA
If you’re looking for hotel recommendations in Deia, Mallorca, here are some of my favorites:
DAY 4
Your fourth day of this 5-day Mallorca itinerary will have the longest drive since you’ll be going all the way down to the southeast corner of Mallorca. This area of the island is known for all the best beaches and beach towns like Ses Salines and Colonia de Sant Jordi. From Deia to Colonia de Sant Jordi it’s about an hour drive and on the way, you’ll want to stop at one of the coolest beaches in Mallorca — Cala Pi.
+ FORN I PASTISSERIA CA’N MOLINAS
Before making the trip from Western Mallorca to Southern Mallorca, make sure to stop at Forn i Pastisseria Ca’n Molinas for a pastry. This is another patisserie known for their truly mouthwatering pastries.
+ CALA PI
Cala Pi is located in Torrent de Cala Pi and the location is absolutely breathtaking. At the top of the stairs before descending down to the beach, be sure to take in the sea green views of Cala Pi. After taking the trek down, be sure to spend a few hours enjoying the quiet atmosphere of the beach and surrounding village. While here, you can snorkel and rent paddle boards.
+ HOTEL EL COTO
After spending the morning at Cala Pi, make your way to to Colonia de Sant Jordi for a stay at Hotel El Coto. This hotel was our favorite of the trip and they will definitely make you feel at home while at the same time making it hard to want to leave! We chose to spend the rest of our afternoon at the pool before heading back out on the town for dinner.
+ ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS FOR THE DAY
Drach Caves: If you didn’t head to the beach in the morning, there are other options in this area that are about an hour drive away from Colonia de Sant Jordi. The Drach Caves are very popular. This tour will take you into the famous Mallorcan caves in a row boat and the star of the show is an underground symphony playing right at the end.
Es Trenc Beach: This area also is known for one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca, Es Trenc. Its popularity is due to the size of it. It’s one of the largest sandy, white beaches in Mallorca making it very popular for people of all ages. This beach is only about a 20-minute drive from Colonia de Sant Jordi.
+ CASSAI GRAN CAFE
For dinner, head to Cassai Gran Cafe in Ses Salines for a laid-back but fun night. This restaurant is not only instagrammable in every aspect but the food is heavenly. Most opt for at least one mojito and don’t forget dessert here!
DAY 5
On Day 5, you’ll be beach hopping all the best beaches of the south east coast of Mallorca. A few of them require a bit of a hike, but nothing too crazy so no need to wear hiking boots.
+ CALO DES MORO
The first beach stop is Calo des Moro. Finding this gem was a bit of a headache for us. They close off the roads to cars for this beach and S’almunia which means you’ll need to first park in town (Cala Llombards) since parking close to the trails leading to Calo des Moro is not allowed. From Cala Llombards, you’ll walk through the residential area until you reach the trailhead marked Carrer des Caló des Moro. Cala s’Almunia will be closest on the trail, but you’ll want to head to Calo des Moro first to beat the rush.
This beach is very small, one of the smallest that we saw of our 5 days in Mallorca, but it’s so worth putting it on your itinerary. But, it also gets very popular as the day goes on. I recommend arriving as early as you can. We arrived around 9 AM and there were about 5 other couples which was the perfect amount. As we were leaving, there were many other people making their way down to the beach.
+ CALA S’ALMUNIA
After spending a couple of hours at Calo des Moro, you can head to Cala s’Almunia on the same trailhead that led you to Calo des Moro. The water here is truly crystal clear with a slightly bigger beach than Calo des Moro. This is also a great place for cliff jumping due to the surrounding cliffs on each side of the beach.
+ PLAYA DE CALA LLOMBARDS
The last stop of the beach hopping day is at Playa de Cala Llombards. This was one of the biggest beaches we visited in all of our time in Mallorca and the only spot where you can rent beach chairs. This area also has a small car park area right next to the beach, a restaurant and bar on-site and plenty of space to soak in the sun and water. You can also rent kayaks and stand up paddle boards here. It is definitely a more family-friendly beach making it very popular with both locals and tourists.
+ CASSAI BEACH HOUSE
On the last night of your Mallorca itinerary, make a reservation at Cassai Beach House. They are related to the Cafe in Ses Salines but with a slightly different menu. However, the Beach House is located right on the beach and if you time your reservation right, you’ll get a stunning view of the sunset as you enjoy dinner. It was the perfect end to our time in Mallorca.
HOTELS IN COLONIA DE SAIN JORDI
If you are looking for hotel recommendations in Colonia de Sant Jordi or Ses Salines, here are a few of my favorites:
